Iron Mask proves a winner in name race

THE first syndicate-owned horse at Deva Racing finally has a name.

Members nominated and voted on their preferred name for the two-year-old colt, housed at Michael Owen’s Manor House stables.

The winning name – Iron Max – was suggested by one of the owners who wanted to name the horse after their grandson, together with a homage to the colt’s sire, Iron Mask.

Trainer, Nicky Vaughan, celebrated with a champagne toast at the stables and the owners are looking forward to the horse making its racecourse debut.

Janet Jones, director of Deva Racing, said: “It’s great that the horse now has a name. The owners really enjoyed the occasion and we are all looking forward to following Iron Max on the racetrack and maybe more champagne in the winner’s enclosure.”

Deva Racing offers racing enthusiasts the chance to buy a share in racehorses with potential and the horses are based at England and Newcastle footballer Michael Owen's Manor House Stables.

Prospective owners can visit to view the horses and speak with trainer, Nicky Vaughan. Owners receive full benefits including owners badges on race days, unlimited stable visits and a share of any prize-money.
