New venture will benefit horse owners

HAVING heard that Rob Lloyd Racing’s new venture at Spurstow was offering stabling and training of privately owned racehorses, Chester businessman, Michael Green decided to take the plunge and is now the proud owner of a two-year-old colt he’s named Green Spirit.

Mr Green runs his own branding and marketing consultancy, GreenFarm Biz Ltd, as well as having a major share in Royal Pelican Estates on the island of Nevis in the Caribbean.

Welcoming him to the stable, Rob Lloyd said: “Although we’ve already got several people from the county who own a share in some of our horses, Michael is the first person from Cheshire to become the outright owner of one of the horses kept and trained at our stables.

Michael said: “I’ve been interested in horse-racing since I was 13 and have always yearned to own my own racehorse. When I heard that the Rob Lloyd Racing, which is just down the road, provided stabling for private owners, I arranged to visit the stables. Having worked with winning cultures throughout my career, I was very impressed with the team and the winning spirit I felt was being nurtured at Haycroft Farm and decided to realise a long-held dream.”

Rob is making all facilities he has at the stable available to private owners as well. These include using the skills of the company’s own well-known bloodstock expert, Bobby O’Ryan to find the right horse, having the horse trained by top trainer, David Murray Smith who is also employed by Rob Lloyd Racing, and with the possibility of it being ridden by leading jockey, Pat Cosgrave .

Lifelong horse-racing enthusiast, Rob, is eager to make racehorse ownership available to as many people as possible and to do this, has launched Rob Lloyd Racing Celebrity Syndications Ltd, providing enthusiasts with the opportunity to become a part-owner of a racehorse, along with a well known celebrity.

Already two such syndicates have been formed, one led by Welsh international rugby player, Shane Williams and the other led by broadcaster Mike Cattermole of Channel 4 Racing.
