Chester shop robbed for second time in two weeks

A KNIFE-wielding robber grappled with staff at a Chester convenience store before escaping with cash from the till.

The masked man threatened staff with a six inch kitchen knife in the Spar shop on Long Lane, Upton, at about 8.30pm on Monday.

Cheshire Police spokesperson Shelley Williams said: “One of the members of staff struggled with the attack before a minimal amount of cash was stolen from the till. The attacker is described as a white male, about 5ft 8 tall, aged about 35 and wearing dark coloured combat pants, white trainers, and a track suit top. The male may have changed his clothing.”

Anyone who has any information is asked to ring Cheshire Police on 0845 458000 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.

It is the second time in two weeks the Long Lane Spar has been targeted by armed burglars.
