Extra home planned at Cheshire village pub

AN ADDITIONAL home is recommended for approval at a village pub.Š

Outline plans were agreed in 2006 for four homes at The Wheatsheaf Inn, Coach Road, Hampton.Š

Applicants Mr and Mrs J Hibbert told planning officers at Chester City Council the development would use part of the pub car park and a grassed area at the rear.Š

They are now seeking to lift a condition on the approval to allow an extra dwelling.Š

No observations have been made by parish councillors, according to a report.

Nearby residents object on highway safety grounds and argue that rented housing would harm the character of the locality.Š

Mr and Mrs Hibbert believe five dwellings could be accommodated within the development without causing unacceptable harm to the area.Š

The properties would be in a village location, planning officers point out and there would be reasonably sized dwellings and plots.Š

The development would not appear out of keeping.Š

There would be a new access onto Coach Road and each home would have two parking spaces.Š

Two of the properties would be socially rented homes.Š

Recommending the application should be approved, they believe the dwellings would not cause unacceptable harm to the character or visual amenity of the area or the amenit y of nearby dwellings.Š

The plans are due to be considered at a meeting of Chester's planning board on Wednesday (October 1).Š
