A FEMALE football supporter was airlifted to hospital after the car she was travelling in was flipped on to its roof near Chester.
The 20-year-old Shrewsbury Town fan was thrown from the blue Landrover Discovery when it crashed in Tushingham on the A41’s junction with Willer Moor Lane on Sunday at 3.30pm.
The car, being driven by a 52-year-old man, also contained three other passengers, all of whom had been to see their team play against Chester City at the Deva Stadium.
The woman suffered serious injuries after she was trapped underneath the overturned car.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue crews and one applicance from Whitchurch used airbags and a hydrolic winch to lift the vehicle and free the woman.
She was airlifted by West Midlands Ambulance service to University Hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and despite her injuries she is reported to be in a comfortable condition.
All the other passengers escaped from the vehicle.
The driver, along with a 17-year-old male, a 62-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman were treated for minor injuries at the Countess of Chester Hospital.
No other vehicles are thought to have been involved.
Western Specialist Investigations Unit are appealing for witnesses who saw the incident and particularly to those who saw the car prior to its collision.
