DIRECTORS are due to be appointed on Thursday, September 25 to the not for profit company which will make the crucial decision on the top executive for the ambitious 10 year, £1.5 billion programme to revitalise Chester and change its face for the next half century.
Appointed on a three-year contract, the renaissance director’s £100,000 yearly salary will be funded equally by Chester City Council and the North West Development Agency (NWDA).
The appointment will be made by Chester Renaissance Ltd which has been set up to make the decision.
It will eventually have four directors, one of whom will be the new director.
The other three will be appointed by the city council.
One will be Cllr Stuart Parker, the town hall’s portfolio holder for development.
The other two names are due to be revealed at a meeting of the Tory controlled Executive on Thursday.
The Executive will also appoint three members to act as shareholders of the company, two of whom will be councillors and one a city council officer.
The day to day aspects of the project itself will be overseen by a separate private sector/public sector board with a private sector chairman, former MBNA chief executive Shane Flynn and a private sector majority.
The director will be responsible to this board.
