Virtual gallery: Teenager displays her love of fan art

Katherine Lindhorst - Artist

KATHERINE Lindhorst is already proving to be a talented artist at the age of 13.

The Flint High School pupil said she has been drawing from the moment she could pick up a pencil but it was only last year that she decided to take it further.

“I've got boxes of paper and scraps scattered all around our house filled with various stuff art-wise,” she said.

“I draw a fair amount of fan-art, usually containing cats or sometimes a human or two - it's never a surprise when my mum asks me to draw a card for a relative!  Sometimes I also design posters to put around my school which have won competitions in the past."

Katherine added: “When I’m older I’d like to become a graphic designer.  I’ve been drawing all of my life, but in July 2011 my style suddenly changed and I started to draw more often using my graphic art tablet.  Most of my drawings are works inspired by author Erin Hunter or original pieces. I find it difficult to copy things and prefer to use my own imagination to think up new ideas. “
