GCSE Results: St David's High School Saltney

STUDENTS at St David’s High School in Saltney achieved record-breaking GCSE results for the fifth year in a row.

Head teacher Tony Davidson said 75% of students achieved the Welsh Level 2 threshold of five GCSE passes at grades A*-C and 56% achieved A*-C grades in all three core subjects (English, maths and science).

He added: "For the fifth consecutive year, we have beaten our previous best at GCSE and exceeded the challenging targets agreed with the local authority.

"Students and staff are delighted and so am I. You don't achieve these sort of results by chance – it's down to effort, determination and commitment. Everyone has worked hard and done their best and the successes are well deserved."

"Students of all abilities have approached their GCSE examinations with considerable energy and determination, and teaching staff have provided excellent support and guidance.

"The support of parents has been outstanding. These excellent results will enable most of our students to proceed to the next stage of education, training or employment as planned.

"I am also pleased that so many students will be staying with us in the sixth form to study at AS and then A level. After an outstanding inspection report in April and confirmation that we are in the top 2% of schools in Wales for added value at 16, this caps a great year for us."

Outstanding performers this year included: Hannah Smith (6 A*, 5 A), Tamsin Bold (4 A*, 5 A), Jess Cavendish (4 A*, 4 A), Chris Bithell (3 A*, 7 A), Matthew Massey (3 A*, 5 A, 3 B), Amy Aspinall (4 A*, 5As 2Bs), Jessica Hughes (2 A*, 6 A, 1 B), Oliver Emptage (5 A, 6 B) and Adam Black (5 A,4 B).
