A TIRELESS, dedicated fundraiser for blind people has received a Your Champions nomination.
Beryl Duggan, of Curzon Park, Chester, has been nominated for the Your Champions Champion of the Year accolade.
Beryl runs a group for partially sighted and blind people.
She recently organised a card-making event which saw dozens of handmade cards sent out to soldiers in Afghanistan as part of care packages for the troops.
Doreen Russell, who nominated Beryl for the honour, paid tribute to the work she had achieved over the years.
Doreen said: “Beryl has worked tirelessly for 35 years and has raised thousands of pounds for the blind and for research into retinitis pigmentosa which her son Christopher suffers from.
“He has been blind for many years and is looked after by Beryl.
“She takes groups of blind people on holiday to the Lake District and at present is trying to organise a holiday for them in Italy.
“She organises street collections, training weekends and conferences – her energy is boundless.
“She nursed her mother through illness until her death in 2005 and she cares for her husband through health problems.
“I don’t know anyone who has given so much of her life to caring for others as Beryl who is so very deserving of winning the award.”
