Your Champions: Bhupinder Virdee-Lace nominated for Champion of the Year

A PRIMARY school teacher and fundraiser has been nominated for a Your Champions award.

Bhupinder Virdee-Lace, of Dicksons Drive, Newton, Chester, has been nominated for a Your Champions Champion of the Year accolade for her work to raise funds for an orphanage in India.

Cathy Murray, who nominated Bhupinder for the honour, paid tribute to her work.

She said: “Bhupinder teaches autistic children in Wrexham and works tirelessly to raise money for an orphanage in India that she visited a couple of years ago.

“She is a trustee on two charities that raise awareness of disadvantaged Indian children and the profile of domestic abuse against some Asian communities.

“She believes we are all equal and strives energetically and passionately to raise awareness of the plight of others not so fortunate as ourselves.

“I feel this award would be a fantastic recognition of her efforts to make this world a better place to live in!”

Bhupinder was also a winner of the 2008 One Pot Cook Off competition, which saw her create chicken in a creamy tomato and courgette sauce in just one hour with one pot.

She also pays regular visits to Chester’s Spinney Day Nursery to run multi-cultural workshops.
