Steve wins Ladbrokes’ WOW title

THE manager of Ladbrokes in Chester, on Northgate Street, has won a national customer service award.

Steve Hughes won the company’s ‘wow’ award after being nominated by two of his regular customers Ted and Betty Tatler.

Both in their seventies, thought Steve was deserving of the award due to his excellent customer service to them over the seven years he has worked there.

They had been very ill earlier in the year, and this meant they had not been visiting Ladbrokes as often as usual. Steve became worried, and visited their house with flowers and chocolates. The couple are both well again, and back to being two of Steve’s most regular customers.

Steve’s thoughtful gesture touched the family so much that Betty’s daughter wrote a poem about Steve commending his efforts as manager, declaring how deserving he was of the award.

Ted and Betty nominated Steve by filling out a customer comment card. Their comments got Steve through to the finals in London, where he eventually won.

Commenting on his award, Steve said: “I was gobsmacked. I couldn’t believe it. To win out of 1,200 entries just from customer comments makes me so proud”.
