The park is rich in wildlife and home to a variety of farm animals. You can feed the free-range chickens, ducks, rabbits and guinea pigs and see the donkeys, pygmy goats, pot bellied pigs, llama and Jacob sheep in the wildflower meadows.
The park lies beneath the Cefn Viaduct on the banks of the River Dee. The viaduct was built by Henry Robertson in 1848 and carries the Chester-Shrewsbury railway line.. It is 147ft high with 19 arches each spanning 60ft.
Ty Mawr is a great place for relaxing, going for a walk or enjoyng a picnic. If you fancy a longer walk there is the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct walk, Cefn Heritage Trail, a section of the Offa’s Dyke Trail or the Llangollen Canal Walk which are easily accessed from Ty Mawr.
Ty Mawr has been awarded the prestigious Green Flag Award in recognition of its excellence as a public green space.
