Alyn Waters Country Park, Gwersyllt

It is situated within the beautiful Alyn Valley and has waymarked woodland, grassland and riverside trails.

The park lies either side of the River Alyn between Gwersyllt and Llay. On the Gwersyllt side there is a Visitor and Environmental Education Centre which has a large indoor space that is an excellent venue for meetings, education and community groups. On the Llay side is easy access to the Local Nature Reserve, an excellent adventure playground and Golf Driving Range.

Every Tuesday there is a led walk around Alyn Waters Country Park and the surrounding countryside of Gwersyllt (approx 1.15hrs). If you would like to join in meet at the Alyn Waters Visitor Centre at 10.30am. As a special offer if you join the walk you can have a cup of tea or coffee and a piece of cake for only £1! For more details contact Hannah or Anna at Groundwork Wrexham & Flintshire on 01978 363555 or email hannah.jones@groundwork.org.uk.

At the park you will also find the Alyn Waters Country Park Trim Trail. It is open 365 days a year and can be used by anyone. Make exercise fun with kit like the stilts and chain walk for the children, or sit-up tables and chin-up bars for the adults. And don’t be fooled by appearances - you can do a lot more than just sit on those benches!

There are also five signposted walks around the park, ranging from ¾ of a mile to 2 miles long. Pick up a leaflet from the Visitor Centre for more details on the walks and also the cycle trail.

And afterwards why not relax and enjoy some refreshments in the Friendly Visitor Centre.

Alyn Waters has been awarded the prestigious Green Flag Award in recognition of its excellence as a public green space.
