Chester FC: Neil Young completes signing of centre-back George Horan

CHESTER FC fans are waking up to more good news this morning after Neil Young completed the capture of highly-rated centre-back George Horan.

The Chester-born 28-year-old, who ended last season playing for Droylsden in the Blue Square North, is recognised as one of the best defenders ever to have played in the Welsh Premier League.

Horan, who lives in Upton, enjoyed outstanding spells with Connah’s Quay Nomads and most recently Rhyl, whom he captained with distinction.

Blues boss Neil Young worked with Horan at Rhyl and is delighted that he has agreed to become his latest acquisition.

Young, whose summer recruitment drive is not over yet, said: “Once again we have beaten other clubs from a higher league to a top signature, and I’m sure the fans will be as delighted as myself at the signing.”

Horan is likely to make his debut in Chester’s big pre-season opener at Colwyn Bay tomorrow (3pm).

The Blues have confirmed that the first team to visit the Deva Stadium for a friendly will be Welsh Premier outfit Aberystwyth Town on Saturday, July 24 (3pm).
