Chester City FC: No club representative at High Court to hear ruling

THE Chester Chronicle can reveal that Chester City FC 2004 Ltd was wound up in the High Court this morning with no legal representation from the company present.
As a result, the 125-year-old club's fate was sealed in under 30 seconds.
The company failed to settle its immediate debts of £26,125 with HM Revenue & Customs resulting in the adjudication.
In January, Chester City FC 2004 Ltd was given six weeks to finalise proposals for a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) aimed at enabling the club to clear its debts.
Since then the club has been expelled from the Football Conference for breaches of regulations following its failure to fulfil two fixtures.
The club had earlier been put up for sale for just £1 and there was various media speculation linking Chester City FC to a takeover from a Danish consortium and other buyers - none of which materialised.
