Chester City FC: Blues fans launch City Fans United group to safeguard club’s future

BLUES supporters have joined forces to safeguard the future of football in the city.

More than 150 fans turned out last Thursday for the launch of City Fans United, a group created by a merger of the club’s independent supporters association and the supporters trust.

In little over a week they are due to hold elections to install a committee to run the group and their main aim is to guarantee the continued presence of professional football in Chester.

The working group which engineered the creation of the CFU – former Conservative councillor Mike Poole, former ISA chairman Mark Howell, broadcaster Charlie Lambert and former Trust chairman Tom Jones – quickly brought up the need for them to formulate a ‘plan B’ for the future of the troubled club.

CFU will be holding a legends night at the Divas Showbar, featuring some of the biggest former Chester players from the past 50 years, on December 3.

Tickets for the evening, featuring comedian and Chester fan Bobby Brown, are £8 and the proceeds will go towards the CFU’s contingency funds.

The club’s Junior Blues group is also being relaunched.
