Chester City FC: Conference bosses put decision on Blues future back until November 16

CHESTER City have this afternoon been given a stay of execution until November 16 by the Football Conference.

Blue Square Premier bosses have told The Chronicle that consideration of the Blues’ expulsion from the competition has been put back in order to allow further discussions to take place about the club’s football debts.

Football Conference general manager Dennis Strudwick said: “All sides have responded to the situation and are willing to enter talks to come to a resolution.

“The Football Conference, Football League and Chester City will be sitting down for formal talks soon in order to give everybody a fair chance to put their case and work towards a solution.

“As a result, any decision on Chester City’s future has been deferred until November 16.”

Last week the Conference issued a statement on their website saying Chester faced being kicked out of the league if they did not pay their debts by 5.30pm today.

City owner Stephen Vaughan hit back by saying the payments would be made as soon as the club received its six-figure ‘parachute’ payment from the Football League.
