Chester City FC: Blues supporters asked to get on board

OWNER Stephen Vaughan is giving the Chester City supporters’ groups a chance to have a say on the running of the club.

After buying back the Blues last Thursday to take the Deva Stadium outfit out of administration and avoid it being liquidated, Vaughan is asking the four associations to donate £25,000 per season in exchange for a place on City’s board of directors.

Vaughan said: “I want to give them this opportunity and hopefully a member from each of the four associations will join the board. The donation would generate significant funds that could be injected into the football club. It may be achievable and it may not, but I will match pound for pound what the supporters can raise.”

City, now preparing for life in the Blue Square Premier after being accepted into the Football Conference on Saturday, will be sponsored by Anderson & Co Solicitors next season in a deal worth £25,000. The firm will also take over the sponsorship of the Cestrian Group Stand.

Fans have the opportunity to name the West Stand for the 2009-10 campaign. Costing £100 to enter, the money will not be due unless the club meets its target of selling 100 tickets.

If it does, supporters who have pledged the £100 will receive a free replica City shirt. The winner will receive four season tickets in their named stand.

Liverpool Reserves will not be playing at the Deva Stadium next season.
