THERE are places remaining for next week’s Chester City Soccer School.
The course runs from Monday through to Wednesday, from 10am-3pm each day, at Bishops’ High School in Chester.
Boys and girls, aged from five to 12 years of age, are welcome, costing £35 for the three days.
All coaches are fully qualified and CRB checked with the Football Association.
All kids need to bring is a full football kit, including trainers and boots, and a packed lunch with no fizzy drinks.
For more information contact Danny Jones on 07879671939 or the club on 01244 371376.
The course also runs on April 6-8, April 14-16, May 25-27 and July 20-22.
What’s going on?
CHESTER City Supporters’ Trust are seeking assurances from owner Stephen Vaughan over the future direction of the club.
The Trust’s Tom Jones said: “We urge for Mr Vaughan to tell us ‘warts and all’ what the future holds for the club we support.
“The Trust believes uncertainty surrounding the true situation at the club is seriously affecting the level of support, not only by absent fans but also the relatively few fans still attending home games.”
He added: “The Trust sincerely hopes that Mr Vaughan can find a way to attract the missing fans and sponsors back to the Deva as failure could be disastrous.”
Derby heartbreak
CITY suffered a gut-wrenching 2-1 derby defeat at home to Wrexham in the Puma Youth Alliance on Tuesday.
The young Blues fell behind but restored parity moments before the break when James Owen took full advantage of a defensive mix-up.
Chances came and went for both sides in the second half, but it was the Dragons who won it three minutes into injury-time when the prolific Obi Anoruo struck.
Sweet victory
ANDY Scott took extra pleasure out of Brentford’s 3-0 League Two victory over the Blues on Saturday.
The Bees boss endured an unhappy spell under Mark Wright at Oxford United when the current City manager was in charge of the U’s.
Scott said: “For me personally it was nice to get one over on one of my former managers.
“I didn’t have the best of times under his stewardship at Oxford. So I really enjoyed that win today and wish it could have been five or six.”
Pompey link
FORMER Chester captain Roberto Martinez admits he is flattered to be linked with the vacant hotseat at Premier League strugglers Portsmouth.
But Swansea City’s boss, the youngest manager in the Championship, insists he is committed to the Welsh outfit.
The 35-year-old Spaniard left the Deva Stadium two years ago to take over the Swans, who he led to the League One title last season.
