Midfield Chester City FC duo shown door by Mark Wright

TONY Dinning and David Mannix will be the first two Blues players made available by Mark Wright when the transfer window opens in a fortnight.

There is an abundance of central midfield players in City’s squad and Wright sees it as a luxury the cash-strapped club cannot afford.

The Chester boss has told the experienced Dinning, who is currently serving a ban for his sending-off at Bournemouth earlier this month, and Mannix – out injured since suffering a facial injury in an alleged training ground bust-up in October – that they are surplus to requirements.

Wright said: “We still want to get the people who are on the fringes out and move them out and get better players in.

“If we can bring good, younger players in who are fit and strong and 6ft plus then it looks good for the future.

“I’ve told Tony Dinning this week that he won’t play for us any more and it’s not being disrespectful to him, he can’t play the game that I want him to play.

“He’s accepted that, when January comes in, then we’ll have a look at it.

“Obviously the boy Mannix is not wanted by me. We’re going to work to try and get him a club and get him out the way so there’s two automatically. We’ve got to make decisions about a few others.”

City beat Notts County 2-0 at the Deva Stadium on Saturday and Wright put it down to hard work.

“I think the clean sheet is the biggest plus,” he said. “In recent weeks they’ve worked so, so hard in training. The togetherness, the team spirit, everything they do has been spot-on.

“I don’t think it was majorly convincing, like I’ve heard some people saying.

“I think the work ethic was fantastic – the way that they worked together and they went and closed down. They went after people.

“They’ve deserved this victory in my opinion. They deserved it at Darlington they deserved it today. Like I said before, I don’t think it was convincing, I think it was hard work.”
