Mark is so keen on the Shots

ALDERSHOT come to the Deva Stadium tomorrow having impressed the Blues’ new manager in their midweek FA Cup replay against Rotherham.

Mark Wright has identified that they have all the attributes to take full advantage of Chester’s weaknesses, as they are a strong, tall side.

But Wright is hoping that having spent the week healing rifts within the squad his side will come out fighting as one.

“Aldershot were big and strong the other night,” said Wright. “They were at it and very impressive because they tore Rotherham to pieces.

“They have had a solid start to the season but look at their team. They are tall and strong.

“We play too much football without being productive. We’re not getting balls into the box, we’re not getting anyone into the box to get on the end of balls.”

But while tactics have been important this week, the main work of Wright and his assistant Steve Bleasdale has been to restore squad unity and team spirit, which had begun to fall apart.

“What we’ve done this week though is try to get all the boys together and get team spirit” said Wright.

“There were little factions where they were in their own little groups. We’ve tried to unite them and bring them together and make training enjoyable even though it’s hard.

“I think there’s goals in the side but what we need to do is start from a solid base.”
