Keeper on trial

THE Blues have handed a trial to Hyde United keeper Craig Dootson.

The 29-year-old former Bury and Stalybridge Celtic stopper is being lined up as back-up to City number one John Danby.

But while Chester will continue to run the rule over Dootson, two other trialists – midfielder Dave Brammer and left-back Sam Williamson – have returned to their clubs.

Chester will not pursue their interest in Millwall’s Brammer, but Manchester City youngster Williamson impressed and could one day return to the Deva.

Chester boss Simon Davies said: “We’ve looked at him and we know what he’s about. Man City have said that if you need him, give us a shout and we can try and do something there. He shone straight away, which you would expect. We know that if we do need a left-back in on loan and if we have got the possibility to do so, then we can go knocking on their door.”

Fans pay at gate

CHESTER’S forthcoming Deva Stadium date with Port Vale is not all-ticket for home fans.

The match has been moved from the traditional 3pm Saturday kick-off to noon on Sunday, October 19.

City fans can pay at the turnstiles on the day, but Vale supporters must purchase their tickets in advance.
