‘Hard’ midfielder settles in

SIMON Davies was delighted to seal the signing of French trialist Damien Mozika yesterday.

Midfield enforcer Mozika, 21, has penned a two-year deal with the Blues having impressed during a short trial.

After watching the former AS Nancy player make an assured debut against Carlisle on Tuesday, Davies decided to tie him to a contract before any other interested parties could move in.

The Chester manager said: “He did well in the game, especially in the first half. He gives us something we haven’t got.

“We’ve got a lot of good footballers in midfield. I’m not suggesting Damien isn’t a good footballer, but he’s just a different style of player. He’s a hard-tackling midfielder, he’s very strong and he puts himself about.”

Mozika is not fluent in English, but he is already settling in well with his new team-mates.

“To be fair, he’s already started to have a laugh and a joke with the lads,” said Davies. “He won’t have a problem.”

Chester are without a pre-season fixture this weekend, so their next game is the home meeting with Swansea City next Thursday (7.45pm). After putting in plenty of gruelling work in training over the last few weeks, City’s players will be given the weekend off while Davies and his staff go out on scouting missions.
