Blues seal Paul Taylor loan deal

CHESTER City’s long pursuit of Paul Taylor is finally over after the Vauxhall Motors hotshot last night agreed to move to the Deva on loan.

The transfer is expected to become permanent during the course of the season, with City paying a cash fee for the young striker.

City manager Simon Davies said: “Paul is an exciting talent.

“We have four new players coming into the club and it raises the selection bar for me.

“Paul will benefit from full-time training and it’s up to him to impress and make the shirt his own.”

Vauxhall chairman Alan Bartlam said: “Paul is delighted with the move and fancies the step up. Of course it puts him in the shop window and who knows how far he can progress in the game.”

Taylor, a former Manchester City trainee, joined Motors on a free last season and turned in an impressive display in a summer friendly against Chester at Rivacre Park.

He has been on City’s scouting radar ever since and was the subject of a failed £50,000 bid from Bobby Williamson in January.

The Blues had a five-figure offer for Taylor accepted by Vauxhall at the end of the season but were unable to agree personal terms with the player.

The transfer looked to be off, until it was resurrected last night.

Taylor – a quick and skilful forward with an eye for spectacular goals – netted 17 times for Motors last season.
