Griffiths lands assistant’s job at Deva

SIMON Davies will this morning unveil former Southport assistant boss Huw Griffiths as his number two.

Griffiths, 32, is a former Wales schoolboy international and holds A licence coaching qualifications.

He was assistant to Peter Davenport at Southport but left shortly before the end of last season, along with the former Manchester United striker.

Blues boss Davies said: “Huw will fit in well with what we are trying to create at the Deva Stadium and he could well prove to be one of our best signings of the summer.”

Rookie boss Davies, 34, had been working without an assistant since taking the reins at the Deva in March. Reserve team coach Billy Gerrard has also been promoted to a similar position with the first team.
