Chester tie Linwood to two-year deal

PAUL Linwood this afternoon pledged his future to Chester City by signing a new two-year contract.

As revealed exclusively on chesterchronicle.co.uk earlier this afternoon, the centre-back was due at the Deva Stadium today to seal the deal.

He put pen to paper at about 2.45pm and his commitment to the Blues will come as a major boost to fans who feared their player of the season would be lured away to a bigger club this summer.

Linwood said: “It’s nice to have your future sorted. The club’s done everything for me so I’m made up to have signed.”

Blues boss Simon Davies added: “It was really important for us to get Paul. He’s been massive for us this season.”

Linwood signed for City on a two-year deal from Tranmere Rovers two years ago. Chester had the option of exercising a clause in the defender’s contract to keep him at the Deva for a third season – but instead decided to offer him a completely new, improved deal.
