CHESTER’S clash at Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday, April 19 has been designated a “Celtic Day”.
Wanderers have a long association with Glasgow giants Celtic, with manager Paul Lambert still remembered fondly at Parkhead.
Chairboys stars Neil Lennon, Rab Douglas and Steve Guppy all plied their trade for the Bhoys while former Wycombe boss Martin O’Neill was one of the Scottish Premier League club’s most successful managers.
Wycombe officials are encouraging Celtic fans to make the trip to Adams Park for the Chester match and they have even handed them their own stand – the Dreams Stand, usually reserved for away supporters.
Chester fans will be given a section of the BCUC Stand.
Wanderers director Steve Hayes said: “It’s amazing how many links there are between Wycombe and Celtic.
“I am sure Celtic fans keep an eye out for our results so we thought it would be a good idea to invite them down to Adams Park to see us play.”
Celtic have visited the ground before. They played a testimonial there for Jason Cousins in 2002, where the Bhoys – then under the stewardship of O’Neill – won 4-0.
