Wrexham table bid for Ellison

CHESTER City winger Kevin Ellison could make a shock cross-border switch to Wrexham before the transfer window closes on Thursday.

The Dragons have tabled a five-figure bid for City’s top-scorer, who left Tranmere Rovers last summer to pen a three-year deal with the Blues.

Chester owner Stephen Vaughan said: “We will consider the offer, but if their financial valuation doesn’t meet ours and, more importantly, Bobby Williamson doesn’t want the player to move on, then the deal won’t go through.”

Ellison limped out of Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Rotherham and it is not known whether he will feature in tonight’s home clash with Rochdale (7.45pm).

If he joins Wrexham, Ellison will be the third player to swap life at the Deva Stadium for the Racecourse this month – following Phil Bolland and keeper Gavin Ward.
