Little happy to take a point

BRIAN Little was pleased to claim a point from his first game in charge of Wrexham – and he was impressed by cross-border rivals Chester.

Bobby Williamson’s men twice took the lead at the Racecourse on Sunday, but were pegged back on both occasions by the Dragons in an exciting 2-2 draw.

Little said: “I felt when I looked at Chester they looked more comfortable with themselves, and were aware more of where their other players were, because they’re going well this season.

“But I was pleased with my players’ commitment. They tired at the end, which was understandable, but they worked hard and tried to do things properly for the team.”

Chester’s second goal was scored deep into first-half injury time by Paul Linwood, who clocked up more than 50 league games under Little when the pair were together at Tranmere Rovers.

Little joked: “I had a feeling Linny would score against us.

“Me and him had some tough times at Tranmere together but we got on well, and I just had a funny feeling he would do something. So it didn’t surprise me when he scored but the timing disappointed me.”
