FORMER Blues winger Sam Aiston is in line to face his old club on Sunday after Wrexham yesterday agreed to sign him on loan from Northampton.
The well-travelled 31-year-old spent two loan spells at the Deva Stadium in the late 90s from Sunderland, after which he signed for Shrewsbury and then Tranmere Rovers before moving to the Cobblers 18 months ago.
Aiston is now in line to make his Dragons debut in Sunday’s derby, which will be new boss Brian Little’s first game in charge.
Little turns 54 on Sunday – but Blues fans are hoping he will have a birthday to forget.
The Wrexham boss said: “On a few occasions over the years my birthday has fell on the day of a game, but for this one to also occur on the day I take charge of Wrexham for the first time, well, that makes it a little unique. I just hope it turns out well for me, the team and the fans.”
Little should have club captain and former City centre-back Richard Hope fit, along with left-back Ryan Valentine despite both missing training at the start of the week.
Danny Williams, Mark Jones and Juan Ugarte are out, while the proposed signing of goalkeeper Nick Colgan on loan from Barnsley has been put on ice.
