CHESTER City have failed in their bid to sign West Brom’s John Hartson.
The Blues had hoped to lure the Wales international to the Deva on a loan deal, with a view to making the switch permanent in the new year. But the move has broken down as Hartson is unwilling to step down to League Two level.
Blues director Bob Gray said: “West Brom had agreed to John Hartson joining us on loan with a view to us signing him permanently in the January transfer window, but the player won’t drop down to play in League Two”
