TICKETS for Chester’s eagerly-awaited derby at Wrexham will be on sale straight after tomorrow’s game against MK Dons at the Deva Stadium.
The Blues have already sold around 800 tickets for the trip to the Racecourse a week on Sunday, but there are still plenty available, priced £5 for juniors, £10 for OAPs and £16 for adults.
The tickets will be on sale at the Deva Stadium ticket office from 10am-4pm today and after the final whistle tomorrow. Postal applications for tickets are welcome. You should send a cheque, made payable to Chester City Football Club, with a brief note indicating which tickets you are ordering to The Secretary (Wrexham away), Chester City FC, The Deva Stadium, Bumpers Lane, Chester CH1 4LT.
The club intends to review sales and ticket availability this weekend in order to decide whether there will be tickets on sale next week.
Fans can get to the Racecourse in time for the noon kick-off by using a dedicated rail service from Chester to Wrexham.
The train will accommodate 650 people and will depart Chester Station at 10.30am. The return journey will leave Wrexham at 2.38pm.
The standard service fare is £3.90 return and this is expected to be the same for the derby train.
FA charge Jackson
LINCOLN City manager Peter Jackson has been hit with an FA charge for his outburst after Chester’s 1-0 victory at Sincil bank earlier this month.
Jackson has been charged with a breach of FA rule E3 – use of abusive and/or insulting words.
The former Blues player was making his managerial debut at Sincil Bank and became frustrated after match referee Trevor Kettle awarded a 57th minute penalty to Chester.
The Blues are still waiting to hear whether they will be charged by the Football League for their late arrival at Sincil Bank. Club officials expect to be hit with a fine after the team coach got stuck in traffic and arrived 30 minutes after the scheduled kick-off time. The game eventually got under way 55 minutes late.
Lambs loan Phil
CHESTER’S reserve goalkeeper Phil Palethorpe has joined Tamworth on a two-month loan deal.
Palethorpe will be able to get regular first-team football at the Staffordshire non-league club for the first time in his career, having only really featured in the reserves at both City and previous club Tranmere.
He recently managed to hold down a place on the bench while Gavin Ward was sidelined.
Palethorpe is the eighth member of Bobby Williamson’s squad to go out on loan this season.
Chester have also loaned versatile defender Sean Hessey to Macclesfield Town.
The 29-year-old, who has been out of favour since Bobby Williamson’s arrival in the summer, has penned a two-month deal with the Silkmen.
He was an unused substitute on Saturday as Macclesfield crashed to a 3-1 FA Cup defeat at Rushden.
Young Chester midfielder Neil Carroll has joined Leigh RMI on loan.
School of soccer
YOUNGSTERS are welcome to sign up to City’s soccer schools at Blacon High School on Friday evenings.
Between 5.30pm and 6.30pm each week, footballers of all abilities aged 5-13 are coached by qualified Chester City staff.
It is an ideal way to make friends, learn new skills, keep fit and have fun.
Contact Danny Jones on 07879 671939 to book. Each session costs only £3.
Blues sink Silkmen
SIMON Davies’ charges registered a good win at Macclesfield in the Puma Youth Alliance.
Chester City’s youth team were buoyed by their FA Youth Cup victory at Marine and beat their Cheshire neighbours 2-1 on Saturday.
The Silkmen took the lead against the run play but City fought back with goals from Lloyd Ellams and Stephen Thorpe.
