Jetstream - Cheshire Jets' Paul Smith on the squad's well-earned break

Paul Smith

Since my last column, the team and I have had the unaccustomed luxury of almost two weeks to prepare for this weekend’s two games against Mersey Tigers and in all honesty, it could not have come at a better time!

Over the two weeks we have had some really intense and useful training sessions and have worked hard to iron out the rustiness apparent in our last two games against Leicester Riders and MK Lions.

We have worked not only on the basics of defence and offence and shooting drills, but also on a few new things.

It’s always a little strange when you are matched against the same team twice in quick succession, as you always have to keep something up your sleeve for the second encounter, just in case plan A doesn’t work as well as you hope.

So we have been able to work on plan B as well, and hopefully the outcomes will favour us!

But with the greatest respect to Tony Garbelotto and his squad, we will not be concerned about how they react to having their collective tails tweaked by the Sharks, but we will be concentrating on the possibility of closing the gap at the top of the table.
