DESPITE holding two victories over the Jets already this season, Worcester Wolves coach Paul James is not taking Sunday’s trip to the Northgate Arena lightly.

“Cheshire are big and athletic,” he said. “You need to be prepared to tough it out with them. They can score inside and out so there is nowhere for anybody to hide.

“Adam Brown and – if he plays – Bill Cole have been really good this season, while Colin O’Reilly, Matt Schneck and Kai Williams are very solid players.

“We just need to keep working hard for each other and executing the game plan in place. Above all, we will need to keep our effort high.”

The Jets go into the game in ninth spot chasing a place in the play-offs. They have seven wins from 22 games, and are one win behind eighth-placed MK Lions with a game in hand.

The Wolves are still in with a shout of the BBL Championship title heading into a weekend where they play host to Sheffield Sharks on Saturday.

The Jets have met the Wolves twice this season, both times in Worcester.

In late January the Wolves won 97-87 while earlier this month they had a relatively comfortable 95-79 win.

John Lavery is glancing towards the play-offs now but is trying to keep the focus on the next game.

“It is hard to say how many wins we need to make a play off spot,” he said.

“We are just taking one game at a time and we will hopefully pick up as many wins as possible and see what happens around the league.”
