Cheshire Jets: Calvin Davis believes return to form has come at perfect time

“EVERYTHING just feels right.”

That is Calvin Davis’ view as Cheshire Jets prepare for yet another huge match this weekend.

They travel to Scotland to face another title contender, Glasgow Rocks, on Sunday seven days after thrusting themselves back into the hunt for honours with a tight win over Sheffield Sharks.

And at the age of 34, experienced BBL campaigner Davis believes that the Jets are hitting their stride at the perfect time if they want to win the BBL Championship.

“This is a big weekend for us,” said the 6ft 7ins Texan centre.

“We’re coming off a big win against Sheffield and we just looking to continue on that success.

“There’s a lot of teams above us lost a few and we’re winning now. Going into the home stretch I think we’re in good shape.

“We have a head-to-head on Sheffield now and next few games I think we’ll have the head-to-head on a few teams ahead of us.”

The Jets still have Sunday’s game against the Rocks, plus matches against Newcastle Eagles (away) and Mersey Tigers at home to come.

And while the Rocks have already won twice against the Jets, Paul Smith’s side can still ensure they pocket the 2-1 season advantage over the Eagles and Tigers.

Such an advantage could be crucial, as if teams finish level on points it is head-to-head which decides league places.

Davis’ confidence the Jets can secure that advantage and put themselves right back in the heart of the title race stems from the impact of Matt Schneck following his return to action.

“I think our sudden change in fortunes has a lot to do with Matt Schneck coming back,” said Davis.

“I think that has just sparked us all. We’re in sync now, we have our original team back to where it was before and everybody is playing well.

“Matt coming back just feels right you know. We just slid back into where we were.

“We were winning when he left, we went on a little losing streak when he went out, now we’re back winning so it seems right.”

Whatever the reason for the Jets revival, what is guaranteed is that no matter what form they are in, Glasgow will not let them have their own way on Sunday as the Jets face a real test of their title credentials.
