LOCAL and national media getting a brilliant view of the counting process at Chester's Northgate Arena - while the arena used for the event is more frequently used for the Cheshire Jets basketball team. Reporters from the BBC, Sky and ITN are, like ourselves, watching the volunteers count their way through the thousands of forms from a useful vantage point on the balcony. EARLY indications are voter turnout is looking strong in Chester, despite the bad weather and the Chester Races taking place. Of the 19 boxes opened so far (about one-third), 16 have more than 60% turnout, 10 have more than 70% and three had more than 80% of respondents. Speculation is the overall turnout will be 72-73%, which would be significantly up on 2005''s 64.3%.Read
